INTEGRATED POULTRY FARMING PROJECT ( IPF)

AfriVet Care Tanzania, we are part of it. Surely this is going to be a big project that shall bring drastic changes in poultry farming.

This is a multi-stakeholders integrated farming project which brings different stakeholders interested in poultry farming to invest in the subsector.

This project involves;

1: local farmers/ land owners
2: suppliers of vaccines, drugs and biologicals
3: Supplier of feed/ feed ingredients
4: Investors in farming ( commercial farmers or people wishing to invest)
5: Livestock experts
6: Chicken buyers

Objective of the Project

1: To improve rural livehoods
2: To increase the scale of poultry farming
3: To increase farming opportunities to other interested people.
4. To increase marketability of chicken ,eggs and other farm products in Tanzania
5. To impart technology in poultry farming.

Area of the project
 Singida. But involving stakeholders in Tanzania

Why Singida?? Singida is most suitable area in Tanzania favourable for poultry farming because:

1: Climatic condition favour poultry
2: Availability of cheap feed ingredients
3: Availability of land
4: Its almost at middle of the country that makes easy for transport of chicken,vaccines,drugs, products and experts to and from other parts of country

Project requires the following:

1.Investors/stakeholder

Role:to lend the land, build the farming infrastructure such as poultry houses, solar/electric systems installation and water systems. This infrastructures will be used for rent for farmers wish to invest in Farming.

Criteria in this category
1. May be a limited company,or public,sole proprietor, community organizations , group of people or individuals
2: Must be able to build at least one poultry house of 500 chicken capacity
3: Ready to rent houses for other farmers.

 2: Commercial farmers/ People  interesting in farming
Role:To invest  in rearing of poultry.
Criteria
1: May be limited company, public,sole proprietor, community organization, group of people of individual
2: Able to pay for rent for poultry houses
3: Able to rear at least 500  chickens at once
4. Able to rear broilers, layers, cross breeds or indigenous ( kienyeji breeds).

3. Feed / Ingredients supplier
*Role*: To supply feeds or ingredients to the farmers.
*Criteria*
1. May be a company, sole proprietor, group of people or individuals
2:able to supply required amount of feed/ feed ingredients
3: able to supply at affordable price

4.Livestock Experts
*Role*: To conduct and deliver  veterinary services in the farms and to oversee the welfare of birds
*Criteria*
1: May be a company, sole individual or group of people
2: If company or group of people should present the academic proof of your experts.
3 .Should adhere to code of conduct of veterinary/ animal heath practice

 5: Vaccines, drugs and biologicals suppliers
*Role* To supply vaccines, drugs and biologicals.
*Criteria*
1. Should be a licensed reputable company or business sole proprietor
2: Proof of transport facilities such as vans, cool boxes etc

Project Timeline

*1: Preparation and invitations of Tenders- 1 September 2017- 31 December 2017*
*2. Starting Project implementation. 1 January 2018*

Ugonjwa Wa magamba ya Miguu ya Kuku ( Scaly leg disease)

Ugonjwa huu kitaalamu huitwa Scaly leg disease. Husababishwa na wadudu waitwao cnemidocoptes mutans. Mara nyingi miguu ya kuku huwa na magamba mengi. Katika hatua za awali kuku hutembea vzr baada huanza kuchechea na pengine kushindwa kutembea. Lakini pia kuku wanaweza kufa. "Matibabu* Kutibu ugonjwa huu huchukuwa weeks 3-4 kuku kupona *Dawa* *1:Spiriti ya kusafishia vidonda*. Paka spiriti ama chovya miguu ya kuku kwenye spirit. Dawa hii huwasha hivyo zoezi lichukuwe muda mfupi ukiwa unachovya *2: Mafuta ya mgando*. Paka mafuta kwenye magamba. Hii hulainisha magamba na kunyima hewa wadudu wanaosababisha ugonjwa huu. *3: Dawa ya ivermectin* Dondosha matone kadhaa ya Dawa hii kwenye magamba kwa muda wiki 1-2
